5 settings to change on your Google account
A single Google account gathers your emails, photos, location and history. These five settings let you take back control of what is kept and who can sign in.
At myaccount.google.com, open “Security” then the Security Checkup: signed-in devices, third-party apps and recovery options.
Even better: create a passkey so you can sign in with your fingerprint or face instead of a password.
In “Data & privacy”, set auto-delete for your activity (3, 18 or 36 months) instead of keeping everything forever.
See whether Location History or Timeline is on, and delete what you do not want to keep.
In My Ad Center, turn off ad personalization: less advertising profiling based on your account.
Going further
- Remove third-party apps you no longer use.
- Keep backup codes offline.
