5 settings to change on Instagram
Who sees you, who messages you, who is signed in to your account: it can all be set in a few minutes. Here are the five things to check.
Accounts Center, Password and security. Choose an authenticator app rather than SMS whenever possible.
Accounts Center, Password and security, “Where you’re logged in”: log out of devices you do not recognize.
If your account is not meant to grow, a private account limits who sees your posts and your followers.
Settings, Messages and story replies: limit messages from strangers and filter requests.
In the same settings, turn off “Show activity status” so people cannot see when you are online.
Going further
- Check the apps connected to your account and remove the ones you do not need.
- Beware of fake “your account will be deleted” messages.
- Menu names vary with your app version.
